![]() | Lactifluus gerardii | |
A striking species described from North-America, well-characterised by the dark brown to blackish cap and stipe and contrasting white, distant gills. The variability of the gill edge (concolorous or dark brown), the colour of context and milk (unchanging or pinkening) have lead to the creation of several varieties. A similar species is found in several Asian countries — further research should reveal how closely the American and Asian representatives are related. Photo © Bart Buyck. |
