Original diagnosis

Pileo 3,5-6 cm. lato, mammoso-convexo, deinde depresso, e purpureo brunneo, vel eximio modo primum obscure hepatico, deinde minus intense colorato. Carne parum crassa, pallide rufa, aquae anilinatae ope fulvescente; odore debili (paulum cimicario); sapore miti, diu massa saepe paulum acri vel amarescente. Lamellis stipatis, subangustis, mox decurrentibus, cito ex carneis rufulis. Stipite 2,5-6,5 x 0,5-1,3 cm., e rubro brunneo facto, summo pallidiore, ± ruguloso. Sporis e cremeis albidis (sicut apud L. mitissimus = aurantiacum auct. plur.), 6,5-9 x 5,7-7 µ., cristulatis vel interrupto-reticulatis. Cystidiis sulfoaldehydum ope nigrescentibus, paucis, praesertim in imis sinibus interlamellaribus observandis. Cute ima ex hyphis cylindratis, summa ex articulis, inaequaliter vesiculosis constante, in superficie pilis parvis, cylindratis, obtusis praedita. - Huad rarus in silvis montani Picearum.
