Original diagnosis

Pileo 3-6 cm, rigido et firmo, convexo, deinde plano expanso, manifeste umbilicato, margine subobtusa, levi, deinde obsolete et brevissime sulcata, intense rubro, saepe medio stramineo vel cremeo, saepe sicco impolito vel saltem haud lucido. Stipite 2,8-5,5 x 0,5-2 cm, primum firmo, deinde fragiliore, aequali vel ad basim incrassato, pleno, deinde spongioso, candido. carne rigida, deinde molliuscula, alba; odore obsoleto; sapore acri, fere ope Gaļaci immutabili. Lamellis stipatis vel substipatis, obtusis, 6-7,5 mm latis, stramineis, deinde ochraceis. Sporis flavis (G). Sporis 7,5-10 x 6,5-8 µm, longis densisque verrucis, singularibus vel passim tenuiter connexis, haud reticulatis. Basidiis 34-38 x 10-14 µm. Cystidiis fusiformibus, 52-82 x (5,7)-6,5-10 µm. Epicute dermatocystidiis cylindratis, fusiformibus vel claviformibus, 6-8-(10) µm latis, plerumque leviter incrustatis. - In silva frondosa, locis argillosis, haud vulgaris.
