Original diagnosis

Pileo 3,5-11,5 cm, subgloboso, deinde expanso, e principio depresso, margine levi vel brevissime in senectute sulcata, ex atro vel griseo olivaceo, saepius pallido, glauco vel cinereo, in ambitu impolito, velutino vel rimoso furfuraceo, in mentem Russulam virescentem revocante. Stipite 2,5-6 x 1-2,2 cm, cylindrato, vel sursum dilatato et deorsum attenuato, pleno, deinde farcto, albo, ex ochraceo brunneo, maculato, pruinato, deinde tenuiter rugoso. Carne firma, sub cute concolore, alibi alba; odore vix ullo; sapore dulci vel paene paulum acri in lamellis; ope SO4Fe vix colorata (pallidissime e subolivacea grisea). Lamellis primum tenuibus ac stipatis, deinde subdistantibus, primum arcuatis, deinde liberis ventricosisque, 5-10 mm latis, cremeis. Sporis cremeis (sicut apud Russulam amoenicolorem), spinis singularibus vel parum connexis echinulatis (5)-6-7-(8,5) x (4,5)-5-6,5-(7) µ. Cystidiis 60-130 x 6,7-12 µ, fusiformibus. Cute pilis multiformibus, amplis vel amplissimis, aliis obtusis, cylindratis, aliis sursum attenuatis, loculis brevibus, cum dermatocystidiis amplis, 4-10 µ latis; pigmento granulari copioso. — In silva frondosa, saepe sub quercubus, locis graminosis. — Typus in Herb. ROMAGNESI, quod posterius ad Museum Lutetianum tradetur (nº 55-86).
