Original diagnosis

Species parva fragilisque, pileo 20-40 (52) mm lato, celeriter expanso, depresso, +/– undulato, margine obtusa, levi, nec striata, aliquando vix tuberculata, cute circum 2/3 secernibili, sicca, pigmento rubello praedita sed plerumque partim omninove discolore, velo aureo inseparabili, minute areolato diffracto obtecta. Lamellis obtusis, postice attenuatis vel subrotundatis, nec lamellulis intermixtis, 5-9 mm altis, perspicue flexuosis atque venosis, fragilibus, e pallidis, pallidis roseis, aetate ochro-aurantiacis. Stipite fragili, medulla spongiosa farcto, 25-45 (60) × 7-12 mm, cylindrato vel paulum claviformi, velo diffracto aureoflavo ad instar pilei ornato, tactu tempore ochraceo fusco. Carne alba, fragili, celeriter putrescibili, sapore miti, odore in senectute perspicuo, Guaiaci ope tempore vix caerulescente. Velo cum KOH statim igneo-rubello.
Sporis obovoideis in cumulo flavis ad instar R. olivaceeae (Ivc in Codice Romagnesii), 8,2-10,4 × 6,9-8,8 um, verrucis catenulatis 0,7 (1) um altis, catenulatis-cristatis, subreticulatis. Basydiis tetrasporis (raris bisporis) 31-54 × 12-16 um. Cistydiis circum 60-90 × 10-12 um. Cute pilis obtusis cylindratis × 2,7-4 um dermatocistydiisque minimis, dispersis, 2-4 (6) um latis Sulfovanillinae ope cinerascentibus. Velo hyphis primordialibus × 4-6 um, +/– affilatis necnon hyphis pseudocistydioideis (in SBA inertibus) × 4-8 um pigmento aureo amorpho copiose incrustatis. Habitatione in quercetis termophilis sempervirentibus Messapicae regionis ubi frequentissima (sub Quercu ilicis et coccifera). Holotypus prope Maglie (Lupiarum Civitatis) in loco dicto "Masseria Luca Giovanni" lectus, 5-11-1989, in Herbario IB conservatur n. 89522.
