Original diagnosis

R. versatilis. — Pileo 1,8-5 cm, tenui ac fragili, convexo, dein expanso, interdum depresso, margine obtusa, sulcata, medio e purpureo vinoso brunneo, saepe colore olivaceo tincto, sive ad marginem, sive medio, vel quoque pallidiore, e vinoso roseolo vel stramineo, cute viscida, lucida. Stipite gracili, 2-5,5 × 0,47-1,1 cm, saepe claviformi, fragili, postremo cavo, albo, deinde paulum flavescente. Carne tenui, fragili, alba, sed leviter flavescente. Odore sicut apud R. felleam, sapore dulci, vix in lamellis acri. Lamellis tenuibus, distantibus, in stipite attenuatis, dein rotundatis, obtusis, 3,5-8 mm latis, e cremeis albidis, deinde pallide ochraceis, intervenosis. Spores in pulvere ochraceis vel clare flavis, 6,5-8,5 × 5,2-6,7 µ, spinis saepissime singularibus, nonnullis tamen in cristulas confluentibus. Basidiis 27-42 × 9-11 µ. Cystidiis 50-85 × 6-13 µ. Epicute pilis 1,7-3,2 µ latis, dermatocystidiis septatis, obtusis vel paulum extremis attenuatis, 4-8,5 µ latis. — In silva frondosa et umbrosa, sub Carpinis, Corylis.
