Original diagnosis

R. variegata — Pileo 4,5 cm lato, convexo, dein expanso, late medio depresso, margine modo aequali, modo lobata-plicata, sulcata, variegato coloribus lilaceis, violaceis atque olivaceis, cute impolita, rugulosa. Stipite 3-3,5 × 1-1,2 cm, albo, inferne brunnescente, levi, lucido. Carne crassa, firma, alba, paulum flavescente, sub cute e violacea rosea. Lamellis parum stipatis, furcatis, paulum decurrentibus, antice obtusis, eburneis, intervenosis. Sporis in pulvere albidis, 6,5-8 × 5,7-6,5 µ, reticulatis. Basidiis 45-52 × 7,5-9,5 µ. Cystidiis 70-90 × 8-13 µ. Cute pilis subulatis, 3,5-5 µ latis, dematocystidiis grandibus, 6-10 µ latis. — Sub Piceis excelsis.
