Original diagnosis

Pileus carnosus, e convexo explanato-depressus, margine exstrio, viscidus, mox siccus, ex atropurpureo purpureo-incarnatus, saepe maculis pallide olivaceis praeditus, 5-7 cm. latus; lamellae confertae vel confertissimae, albae, demum ochroleucae, raro dimidiatae vel furcatae, acie saepe margine rubra, postice bifidae et rotundato-adnatae; stipes solidus, generatim brevis, subaequalis, subrugulosus, sub lente pruinatus, albus, interdum purpureus vel purpureo-maculatus, basi demum lutescens, 2-4 cm. longus, 1-2 cm. crassus; caro albida, spongioso-compacta, leviter piperato-acris, inodora; sporae stramineae, subglobosae, episporio granuloso, 8-10 x 7-8 µ; basidia clavata, 45-50 x 10 µ; cystidia fusoidea vel subclavata, saepe apiculata, rara, 60-70 x 8-12 µ. - Suspecta.
Hab.: in pinetis, autumno.
Area distr.: Europa (Sopramonte in ditione tridentina).
Obs.: Russulae Queletii proxima, sed statura obesa, colore vividiori et carne vix piperato-acri praecipue diversa.
