Original diagnosis

Russula straminea Mln. nov. sp. : Mediocris vel magna, 7-15 cm lata. Pileo crasso, rigido, hemisphaerico dein expanso, centro depresso ; raro reflexo. Cuticula separabili : uda viscidula, sicca non nitente, opaca ; initio cremea v. straminea, flavo-cinnamomeo vel fulvo maculata virgatave. Margine tenue, initio laeve tandem striato tuberculosoque. Stipite valido, 5-7 x 2-3 cm., e solido spongiose-farcto; cylindraceo vel inferne incrassato, nudo, rugoso, striolato ; primitus candido dein ad basim sordide flavo vel cinnamomeo maculato. Lamellis crassiusculis, latis, integris, furcatis, venis crassis ac numerosis conjunctis, subflexibilibus, antice rotundatis, postice attenuatis v. subliberis ; e cremeo dilute ochraceis (Crawshay No. 3, 4, 8), frequenter antice fuscescentibus, interdum versus aciem tandem nitide ochraceis. Sporidiis in cumulo luteo-ocraceis, sub armeniacis (Crawshay : E, G) ; sub lente flavidulis, sphaeroideo-ellipticis : 10-14 x 9-11 µ (sine verrucis), verrucis conicis, 1 µ elevatis, separatis obsitis ; plaga amylifera supra-hilaria praeditis. Basidiis clavatis, tetrasporidis : 40-50 x 6-7 cum sterigmatibus 5 µ altis coronatis. Cystidiis hymenii fusoideis, apice attenuatis vel mucronatis 80-100 µ longis, 12-14 µ latis, 30-40 µ prominentibus, reactivo sulfovanilico caerulescentibus. Caulocystidiis numerosis, claviformibus vel cylindraceis, unicellularibus sed etiam uni- vel bi- transverse septatis : 60-80 x 7-9 µ. Pilei cuticula usque 150 µ crassa, cystidia numerosa exhibente; dermatocystidiis anguste clavatis, transverse uni- v. bi-septatis, longissimis (150 µ et ultra longis), angustis, versus apicem 7-8 µ crassis, cum hyphis cuticulae gracilibus, cylindraceis, septatis, non fibulatis, plus minusve molliter erectis mixtis et in muco hyalino immersis. Carne mite, inodora, insipida, firma, albida, in senilitate fuscescente. Hab. Autumno, in Querceto ilicis Atlantis-Medii, prope Azrou, fréquenter obvia. Obs. Species R. integrae Fr. proxime affinis. Specimina adulta ac bene colorata habitu R. foetentem referentia, sed carne miti, inodora, sporis coloratis aliter ornatis etc..., facile distinguenda.
