Original diagnosis

Species parva, mediocriter carnosa, pileo 30-50 (62) mm lato, e convexo parum depresso, margine laevi, cute secernibili, velutina, in centro granulosa, colore e ochraceo aurantiaco, aliquando discolore, albida, vel plus minusve roseo soffusa. Lamellis obtusis, saepe ad stipitem rotundatis, albidis, fragilibus. Stipite 20-47 × 8-12 mm, claviformi, ± superne dilatato, pruinoso, albido, vix griseascente, aetate spongioso vel vix lacunoso. Carne subinodore, sapore miti, cum Guaiaco caerulescente. Sporis in cumulo albidis (Ia, sive Ib in codice Romagnesii), obovoideis, 7,2-8,8 × 6,4-7,2 µm, verrucis 0,5-0,6 µm altis, cristis intermixtis, parum ramificatis, Basydiis 34-44 (50) × 10,5-14 µm. Cystidiis 52-70 × 9-11 µm. Cute pilis plus minusve clavatis, usque (5) 6-8 µm latis, hyphisque primordialibus conglutinatis x 4,5-6 (7) µm. Habitatione in silvis frondosis (faginetis vel castanetis), gregaria vel solitaria; rara. Holotypus sub tegmine fagetorum lectus (Colle Bertone 17-8-91); in Herb. I.B. conservatur n. 93/600.
