Original diagnosis

R. lepidicolor. — Pileo 5-9 cm lato, duro, crasso, dein molliore, convexo, vel expanso, medio primum ± truncato vel etiam umbilicato, quasi gibboso inaequalique, deinde aequaliore, margine obtusa, incurvata, interdum inaequaliter lobata, levi, pulchre atropurpureo, cute adnata, uda viscosa lucidaque, sicca in margine impolita. Stipite 2,5-9 × 1,3-3 cm, pleno, albo vel leviter roseo tincto, rugoso. Carne dura, alba, praeter sub cuticula. Odore saporeque vix ullo. Lamellis crassis, parum stipatis, obtusis, 4-10 mm latis, lacteis. Sporis in pulvere albidis, 6,5-7,5 × 5,5-6,5 µ, partim cristulatis, subreticulatis. Basidiis 30-50 × 8,5-11 µ. Cystidiis 8,5-11 µ latis. Cute sine dermatocystidiis, hyphis ramosis, obtusis, raro attenuatis, hyphis primordialibus incrustatis parum manifestis. — In silva frondosa, praecox. Roseae affinis.
