Original diagnosis

Pileo (2,5)-5-16 cm, ± crasso, globoso, deinde convexo et expanso, non semper depresso, margine acuta, pectinata, saepe inequaliter lobata, e brunneo ochraceo, deinde e luteo brunneo, sordido, latis areis e purpureis sordide brunneis variegata, viscoso, saepe radiato-fibroso. Stipite (3)-4-10 × 1-3,7 cm, primum albo et subtilissime brunneo punctulato, mox brunnescente et specie sordidissima. Carne ± tenui, alba, saepe paulum citrino tincta, odore complexo, simul amygdalino atque fructibus simili; sapore in stipite acri. Lamellis non stipatissimis, 7-12 mm latis, albidis, mox sordide rufulis vel brunnescentibus, acie semper eximie fuscis punctis, minimis, distincta. Sporis pallide cremeis (B-C Crawshay), subglobosis, 7-8,5 × 6,2-7 µ, cristis rarioribus quam apud Russulam laurocerasi fragrantemque, spinis saepe singularibus, altis. Epicute dermatocystidiis manifestis, 6,5-8,5 µ latis, et hypodermate laticiferis plurimis magnisque praedito. - In silvis frequens.
