Original diagnosis

Lac. violascenti affinis sed parvior, pileo subzonato; cystidiis majoribus itemque sporibus omnino reticulatis.
Pileus (2-)3-4(-5) cm , convexus dein infundibuliformis, margine diutissime involuta, pubescenti: cuticula subviscosa, versus marginem confuse zonata, potius radiatim rugosa, griseo-violacea vel sordide brunneo-violacea, interdum subaerea, postremo ochracea, praecipue in centre. Lamellis confertiores (80-100) arcuatae, subdecurrentes vel leviter emarginatae, subangustiores sed ad frontem obtusae, primo pallidae dein +/- ochraceae (ex roseo-ochraceis brunneo-aurantiae) de tritu violascentes. Stipes 2-3(4) x (0,7)1-1,5(2) cm, curtus vel compactus, fusiclavatus vel ventricosus, intus spongiosus vel cito cavus, extus albopruinosus vel pubescens, de tactu violascens, postremo ochrascens vel aurantio-maculatus, non scrobiculatus, raro maculis imbutis ornatus. Caro albescens, omnino interdum pallide vel tarde violascens; odor lactarioides i.e. acidulus vel resinosus, leniter L. quietum, tabidum vel Russulam fragilem in mentem revocans. Sapor subdulcis, lac albus, immutabilis, coram carne violascens, subdulcis. Reactiones: Gaiac: 0, Fe. subroseo, Tl 4: violaceo.
Sporae (9)10-12(15) x 7-8(9) µ, omnino reticulatae interdum anguste cristulatae sed verrucis nunquam segregatis; cystidia majora usque 80-100(110) x 8-12 µ, fusiformia, ad apicem +/- strangulata, in "Sulfobenzal" haud reagentia; epicutis gelatinosa, hyphis x 3-5 µ, obtusis, pigmento vacuolari in articulis extremis sed conspicue incrustans in subcuticularibus hyphis.
Mediterraneensis; in Cisteto, praecipue ad C. monspeliensem frequens. Typus prope Nicam lectus, in herb. Bon (Lille) conservatur nº 76101802.
