Original diagnosis

Pileus 30-110 mm diam., convexus, planoconvexus vel infundibuliformi, saepe asymmetricus, pileipellis sicca, laevis, cito rimosa, griseobrunnea maculis cremeis colorata abundantibus, localiter atrogrisea. Lamellae late adnatae ad subdecurrentes, confertissimae, pallide cremeae, tactu virescentes vel griseovirescentes. Stipes 22-60 x 7-17 mm, cylindricus vel attenuatus, albidus, interdum pallide griseobrunneus. Caro alba, lente cyanovirescens. Sapor acrissimus. Odor haud distinctus. Latex albus, cyanovirescens, acrissimus. Basidiosporae globosae ad ellipsoideae, 6.99-7.7-9.0 x 5.9-6.8-7.7 µm, verrucis elongatis usque ad 0.3 µm altis, interdum connexis ornatae, haud reticulatae, macula suprahilaris plerumque inamyloidea. Basidia 35-45 x 9-10 µm, subclavata, tetraspora. Pleuropseudocystidia moderate rara, 7-8 µm diam., interdum emergentia, subcylindrata ad subfusiformia. Pleuromacrocystidia rara, 42-60 x 6-9 µm, subfusiformia ad irregularia. Cheilomacrocystidia abundantia, 35-50 x 9-14 µm, clavata. Pileipellis bistrata; suprapellis ex hyphis repentibus, pigmento brunneo intracellulari; subpellis pseudoparenchymata. Nova Guinea, Papua, Madang, 21. ii.1997, leg. Verbeken 97-382 (holotypus GENT).
