Original diagnosis

Pileus 4.5-14 cm diam., convexus tum applanatus et planoconcavus ad infundibuliformis; margine primo involuto tum deflexo; velo generalo crasso, velutissimo, rumpente stellare, pallide aurantio ad flavido in centro, marginem versus flavido-albido; pileipellis laevis, nitida, striata, aurantia ad flavida. Stipes 2.5-3.5 cm longus, 0.6-1.7 cm crassus, cylindratus, basin versus attenuatus, velutinus, pallide aurantius ad cremeus. Annulus membranaceus, tum arachnoideus, albidus. Lamellae decurrentes, moderate confertae, 1-4 mm latae, interdum dichotomae, flavidae. Contextus albidus, basin versus pallide aurantius, gustu acris. Latex moderate abundans, albus, gustu acris. Sporae albae in cumulo, ellipsoideae, 7.6-8.4-9.0 x 6.3-6.8-7.4 µm, verrucis sublaevibus, usque ad 0.2 µm altis, interdum connexis vel plus minusve in cristis brevibus confluentibus ornatae, non reticulatae; macula suprahilaris non amyloidea. Basidia 48-60 x 9-10 µm, subclavata, tetraspora. Macropleurocystidia absentia. Pseudopleurocystidia non abundantia, 12-15 µm diam., emergentia usque ad 30 µm, fusiformia, mucronata. Pileipellis bistrata; elementa suprapellis (20)50-200 x 5-10 µm, curta et subclavata vel longa, cylindrata et trichoidea, septata, ramosa, pariete incrassatissimo (2-4 µm); subpellis pseudoparenchymata. Holotypus: Verbeken 94.291 (BR, isotypus GENT), Burundi, Bururi Prov., Nyamirambo, Rumonge Forest Reserve, mimbo woodland dominated by Brachystegia utilis, 850-950 m alt., iii 1994.
