Original diagnosis

Pileus 20-60 mm diam., primo convexus, deinde applanatus, ultimo depressus; pileipellis sicca, subtomentosa, deinde rugulosa et zonata, flaveoaurantiaca, pallide brunnea. Stipes 25-50 mm longus, 7-10 mm crassus,regularis, siccus, pubescens, albus, erubescens cum tacto. Lamellae adnatae ad decurrentes, distantes,griseoaurantiacae, lente erubescens cum tacto. Contextus albidus, lente erubescens. Latex abundans, albus, gustu acris. Sporae subglobosae ad ellipsoideae, 6.6-7.0-7.6 x 5.9-6.6-7.4 µm, incomplete reticulatae, cristis latis, usque ad 2 µm altis verrucisque ornatae; macula suprahilaris distale amyloidea. Basidia 55-80 x 10-15 µm, subclavata ad subcylindrata, tetraspora. Pleuromacrocystidia absentia. Pleuropseudocystidia abundantia, emergentia, tortuosa vel irregulare cylindrata, 4-6 µm diam. Cellulae marginales cylindratae vel irregulares, 10-25 x 4-6 µm. Pileipellis trichopalisade, 50-70 µm crassa.
Holotypus: Papua New Guinea: Lae District, south of Lae, Oomsis regeneration plots, site 2, with Lithocarpus, 13.ii.1992, leg. Castellano & Halling, E4545 = Halling 6787 (holotypus GENT, isotypus NY and CSIRO).
